SBA 7(a) Loan Payment Calculator
Estimate SBA 7(a)-style loan payments, guarantee fees, net proceeds, borrower cash needed, DSCR, and monthly sales needed before comparing lender offers.
Compare the lender offer, not just the headline rate
SBA 7(a)-style financing can include a lender rate, guarantee fee, packaging fee, closing costs, equity injection, collateral review, and underwriting conditions. Enter the exact assumptions from the lender term sheet, then compare the result with the SBA loan calculator, business loan comparison calculator, business loan affordability calculator, and DSCR calculator.
How the SBA 7(a) payment estimate works
The principal-and-interest estimate uses the standard amortizing-loan formula with the entered loan amount, monthly interest rate, and term in months. Total interest is the sum of modeled payments minus principal. Fees are modeled separately so you can compare the amount borrowed with the cash actually available.
| Result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Monthly payment | Modeled principal and interest; confirm whether the lender rate can change. |
| Guarantee fee | Entered fee percentage applied to the entered guaranteed portion. |
| Net proceeds | Loan amount minus modeled guarantee, packaging, and closing fees. |
| Borrower cash needed | Entered equity injection plus modeled fees and closing costs. |
| DSCR | Entered annual cash flow divided by new and existing annual debt service. |
Worked SBA 7(a) calculation
Using the starting values of a $350,000 loan, 10.75% annual rate, and 120 monthly payments produces a payment of about $4,770 per month. A 3% fee on a 75% guaranteed portion is $7,875; adding $3,500 of packaging costs and $2,500 of closing costs produces $13,875 of modeled fees. Change every field to match the lender scenario rather than treating these defaults as a current SBA quote.

Frequently asked questions
What does the SBA 7(a) loan calculator estimate?
It estimates principal-and-interest payment, total interest, upfront guarantee fee, other closing fees, net proceeds, borrower cash needed, debt service coverage ratio, and monthly sales needed under the entered assumptions.
Is this an official SBA calculator?
No. It is an independent planning estimate. Lender terms, SBA rules, guarantee fees, eligibility, collateral, variable-rate changes, and financed costs can change the actual payment and cash required.
Does the calculator include SBA guarantee fees?
Yes. Enter the guaranteed portion and fee percentage from the lender scenario. The calculator applies that percentage to the guaranteed portion and adds packaging and closing costs entered separately.
