Invoice Tracker with Partial Payments & Balances

Updated 2026-08-12 · Free, no account · Private browser storage

Keep multiple payments per invoice, payment history, balance due, and overdue status beside the complete source document. Drafts and void invoices stay out of receivables.

Track documents, not just totals

Invoices created in the generator retain their seller, client, line-item, discount, tax, payment, note, and currency details. Open a document to edit it, duplicate it for recurring work, or record a payment without reconstructing the original invoice.

Track multiple partial payments per invoice

Record every receipt with its amount, date, and optional reference. The tracker subtracts each payment from the invoice total, shows only the remaining balance as collectible, and keeps an Undo action for corrections. This prevents a part-paid invoice from being mistaken for either fully unpaid or fully paid.

Simple invoice tracking workflow

  1. Create and save the complete invoice in the generator.
  2. Mark it sent only after it is issued to the client.
  3. Record each payment, then review the 30/60/90 aging report.
  4. Open a row in the invoice reminder generator or build a payment plan from the remaining balance.
  5. Export regular JSON backups and reconcile against bank and accounting records.

Reliable receivables definitions

  • Draft: not yet issued and excluded from outstanding, aging, due-soon, DSO, and cash-flow calculations.
  • Sent: issued with the remaining balance treated as collectible.
  • Partially paid: some money received; only the remaining balance is outstanding.
  • Paid: no balance remains. Void: cancelled and excluded from receivables.

Totals are grouped by currency instead of adding unlike currencies. Export JSON for a complete local backup; CSV remains available for summary records and spreadsheet workflows.

Frequently asked questions

What does this invoice tracker record?

Invoices created in the generator keep their seller, client, line items, discounts, tax, notes, currency, payment history, and remaining balance. Summary records can also track invoice number, client, dates, total, amount paid, and status.

Where is invoice tracker data stored?

Records stay in local browser storage and are not uploaded to the site. Export CSV or calendar reminders regularly because clearing browser data or changing devices can remove the local copy.

Can I import or export invoice tracking data?

Yes. Use JSON for a complete workspace backup, CSV for summary records and spreadsheet workflows, and calendar export for collectible due-date reminders.

Can I record multiple partial payments on one invoice?

Yes. Add each payment with its date, amount, and optional note. The tracker keeps the payment history, recalculates the balance due, and lets you undo an incorrect payment without deleting the invoice.
